Mathew Timmons

Mathew Timmons graduated from CalArts MFA Writing Program in Spring 2005. While at CalArts he created and curated Les Grands Porcs (now Sprawl), an on-campus reading series for his fellow writers, and co-created and co-curated Four Sundays, a series of readings across Los Angeles by graduates of CalArts’ MFA Writing Program. He has worked as an editorial assistant for Sylvere Lotringer, general editor of Semiotext(e), is currently Guest Editor of Trepan vol 5, Monstrous, and Trepan vol 6, Mindlessfullness, is co-editor of Insert Press with Stan Apps, co-hosts and co-produces the internet radio show LA-Lit with Stephanie Rioux, and blogs at Anathematas. He is a member of Betalevel, an artists’ space in Chinatown, Los Angeles where he curates various events series including Late Night Snack, an absurdist cabaret. His collaboration with Marcus Civin, a particular vocabulary, is forthcoming from P S Books: The Particle Series. His writings have appeared or are schedulded to appear in Manufactured Inspiration, The New Yipes Reader, Greetings, Disaster, Sleepingfish, P-Queue, Holy Beep!, Outside Voices 2008 Sound Poetry Anthology, Flim Forum, Kadar Koli, The Physical Poets Vol 2, NoD Magazine and some of his multimedia and visual work was in the group-show Many Happy Returns at High Energy Constructs in Los Angeles, CA (October 2006). He received fellowships to attend the Yaddo Art Colony in spring 2006 and Vermont Studio Center in summer 2006. He teaches interdisciplinary arts and writing workshops for CalArts MFA Writing Program and the School of Critical Studies and is Program Coordinator of the MFA Writing Program. His main areas of interest lie in the writings of the avant-garde, experimental fiction and poetics.
